Free Scan to PDF lets you create PDFs direct from the documents and images a scanner creates.

The Portable Document Format or PDF is an excellent format for collecting and later viewing images and documents. PDF files are often created by scanning images via a scanner and then compiling those. Free Scan to PDF is a convenient program that simplifies this by eliminating a number of steps. The program was developed for Windows 7 but works fine with the newest iterations of the OS as well.

With Free Scan to PDF, you do not need other scanning software. It will communicate directly with a scanner to capture images. If you have multiple scanners, you can select the current one and switch back and forth between them. If all you need is to scan one page and turn it into a PDF, you can do that with a single button press.

It has offers you a project workspace by default. You can add multiple images and reorder them however you wish before instructing the program to create the PDF. You can add other documents as well, such as text files. But as long as Windows recognizes it and PDF can handle it, you can drag and drop onto your project workspace.

In fact, you do not even need a scanner. You can just use Free Scan to PDF as a way to quickly turn a single page or dozens into a PDF. Speed and convenience are the emphasis here, and the program really shines in that regard. It is not the most sophisticated PDF creator, and if you need that, you should look elsewhere, but if you do not, you will really enjoy the ease at which this lets you make PDFs.

Free Scan to PDF is great in that it interfaces with your scanner directly. You do not have to use the software that came with your scanner or a third-party program. The frustrating thing then in that regard is that the developer did not provide any means to save as anything as PDF. Of course, that is the point of the program, but this application should at the very least support the PNG format, which is a file format that practically every scanner ever made and every scanner program ever developed supports.
